Classical Egyptian Choreography Workshop with Helen

Come and enjoy a classical Egyptian choreography workshop with Helen. In this two hour session you will learn a super elegant vintage style choreography with a veil. You can expect high level tuition on how to stylize your moves and stage presence to create a classic “Golden Age” look. The workshop is suitable for all levels of dancer (except complete beginners) but is aimed at Intermediate and Advanced level students.

All participants are invited to perform the dance at the SMBA 20th Birthday Party on Sunday 16th November at Goosecroft Barn in Purley. (Though it’s not compulsory)

Parking: There is a free car park behind the YMCA as well as on road parking. To enter the studio please go past the main YMCA entrance and through the metal gate which leads to the path to the sports centre entrance.

The SMBA 20th Birthday Party!

It’s been 20 years since Helen started teaching bellydance! Join us for a birthday showcase where we will celebrate the joy and talent within our bellydance community!

Sunday 16th November
Doors open 2.15pm dancing starts at 2.30pm Show ends approx 4.30pm
Goosecroft Barn, Purley-on-Thames
Free parking
Tickets £12.50 until 31st October, £15 from 1st November.

Performance slots are now open for SMBA students past and present! You will need to contact Helen to request a slot, once your place is confirmed you will need to send your music track and purchase your ticket by 1st November at the latest.

Please arrive in your costume and make-up as changing facilities are very limited.

 

 

Christmas Cabaret end of Term Show

Our end of term gala show takes the form of a Christmas Cabaret hosted by myself and Rachel Bennett. We’re delighted to announce that we will be teaming up to facilitate a celebratory showcase to champion all our dancers!

Saturday 6 December
7.30-9.30pm, doors open 7.00pm
Loddon Hall, Loddon Hall Road, Twyford, Reading, Berkshire RG10 9JA.
There will be a paying bar, but feel free to bring your own water and snacks/nibbles if you wish.
Early bird tickets £10.50 until 30th November, £15.50 from 1st December.

Performance slots are open! To apply, please:

  • Email your music tracks as mp3 or m4a music files.
  • State the duration of your tracks (no more than 4 mins each).
  • State whether you’re starting on or off stage – you may enter the performance area on the floor of the hall from either/ both sides.
  • Style of track/ choreography, any props and author (if not you).
  • Any other dances (group/ solo) that your students may be performing in at this show.
  • 1-2 lines Rachel can use to introduce you to the audience.
